Val Tartano e Val Fabiolo

VAL TARTANO AND VAL FABIOLO

12 hairpin bends reach the entrance of the Tartano Valley. From the village of Tartano two marvellous principal valleys branch off: Val Lunga, towards South-East, and Val Corta, towards South-West. One of the most favourite destinations, for those who visit Val Lunga, are the gentle ledges that host the Porcile Lakes.

Moreover, along the torrent in Val Corta, you can admire the impressive giant's kettles, created by the erosion of the water. In this valley you also find the typical wooden log cabins, built with the technique called blockbau,.

Val Fabiolo is one of the valleys in the Park that does not have a road, but only a track. So, to reach the ancient and mysterious village of Sostila, it is necessary to walk for an hour more or less.

The name of this valley comes from the dialect word fabgiol, which means “little beech”, because of its rich  beech forests.

Val Fabiolo is “the sister” to Val Tartano, and both boast a great amount of deer, chamois, ibex, black woodpeckers and golden eagles.
